We stayed here at the end of September 2006 but I just found this site. I would LOVE to go back again and stay at one of the sites on the bluff. Technically, we were in the WI Ridge section but not on the edge. My husband preferrs the more private, woodsy sites like are found in most WI state parks and if you are the same way, you might prefer Homestead. I think waking up in the morning and seeing that view first thing would be worth the lack of privacy but you should know, the campsites on the Ridge are VERY open. Also you should know that the sites on the edge of the bluff actually have a lower level off the edge of the site so you don't really have to worry about that edge of the cliff, there's a sandy platform just about a foot down on those sites but you still might not be comfortable if you are afraid of heights. This is not the park's fault (although I do wonder if they mentioned it to guests arriving Friday night) but Saturday morning 9/30 was the first day of duck season. We know this because at 9AM sharp on Saturday morning, gunfire exploded all throughout the valley below us. One gunshot would probably echo 7-8 times in that valley and it was gunfire pretty much all morning but it was constant until about 9:30 am. He hunts and I do too occasionally so it didn't bother us at all but I'm sure it bothered a lot of people. You probably couldn't hear as much in Homestead.
