My family comes here every year. The best word for it is HOME.The camps are a good size for a RV,and some are the right size for just tents. The staff is very helpful and nice.

The campground is from the 50's and shows its age to a degree. I use my TT's bath and shower so I didn't spend much time looking at the sites facilities. They seem adequate if basic and maybe dated. The staff was friendly and helpful, they even gave me an option of picking my own site once I got there. The CG roads are very narrow. I've got a Ram 1500 and a 26' TT and I fit, but just barely. Most sites are also narrow and some are more level then others. Nothing a couple blocks of wood couldn't fix.

Nice campground overlooking the ocean canals.. As you pull into the campground you know your near the ocean with the smell of the ocean air. We camped in a self contained 24ft camper so didn't have to use there bathrooms or showers the camp site was a nice large spot. We camped here to have very close excess to Wingersheek Beach very nice beach great for small kids. I will have to say this was the first campground that I have visited that didn't have a playground or even swingset for kids. But good thing for the Beach our 2 & 5 yr old got all tired out being on the water all day. The employees at the campground very nice & helpfull. Also campground provides dicount parking pass to Wingersheek beach weekend parking is 25.00 but with camping discount you get 10.00 off. But again worth every penny. During low tided you could walk out for miles. My family wld camp here again. Like I said to my husband this campground is basicly for basic camping for excess to beach which is less then 1 mile & we all know how much cheaper camping is then staying in a hotel.

we love it. We tow a self contained unit so do not need the shower or rest room facilities.
The drive up the hill can be challenging however in our estimation, one of the few campgrrounds that has never disappointed us. Central to many very cool attractions.
We are headed there again next week.

O.K. so, yes, the bathrooms are a wee bit outdated (but they are clean) and yes, the roads in & out & all about are a wee bit bumpy, tight, and treelined... BUT this place is quite lovely. ALL of the staff that we spoke with, dealt with were super helpful, kind, courteous. The way we set up our camper caused our water hose to be about 7ft. shy of reaching the hookup, they loaned us an extension for the 4 nights that we were there no charge. They sold such extensions at the camp store & could've easily suggested we purchase one, but instead offered one to us unprompted. We had a full hookup sight, so we showered in the camper, therefore I have no reviews about the public showers. We camp in a 26' fifth wheel RV, and chose a site up on the hill in the woods. The drive up could prove challenging to an inexperienced RVer, there are tight corners/squeezes/ turns, so if you aren't confident in your own abilities as an RV captain, choose a site at the bottom of the hill. Wingaersheek Beach is about a mile away, and I believe, run by the state. The average joe must pay $20.00 to park for the day at the beach, but as a guest at Cape Ann you only pay $10.00, and it would be an outrageous understatement to say that it is worth every last red cent, the beach is amazing & fantastic on so many levels. Go early, stay late, enjoy the wonders of the tide & what it does to the beach, and the treasures that it leaves behind! Cape Ann Camp Site is a wonderful place, and can be thoroughly enjoyed by all (with the exception of the "high maintenance" types) ;-) ☺

The grounds were in terrible shape,no grass cut, trash in bins had been ther long enough to smell when attempting to deposit in them.
Bathroom/shower worse we had seen in 30 plus years of camping all over America.
Only one bath open and this had not been cleaned nor updated since Paul rode through, but that may have been the only showers available for the RedCoats and the Colonials.
BUT it doesseem that at the prices they charge they could do something to improve.
We will stay away from this campground and drive in from 30 miles away next time.

we camped near very nice people in Maine and we saw their MAss license plates, long story short we asked about staying in this campground and EVERYONE in the maine campground told us to skip it, avoid it! but we figured we'd try it, and WOW they were right!
the showers and toilets are horrible, they obvioously have never updated a thing here since 1955, the road is a real axle breaker, tree branches and limbs are going to bang hell out of your rig, they nickle and dime you to death like a couple of cheap bastards, AND they are sneaky! We were told the 3 night stay min. was not in effect until the END of June, we were there the fist weekend of June and she charged us the 3 night stay! we showed her the print out from website and she said that was wrong, it is MAY til Labor Day that the 3 and 4 night stay charges are in effect, THEN the good part! we paid the 3 night stay but were told we could NOT stay the 3rd night, they were booked!
Charging people for 3 nights stay then only having room for 2 nights? If that isn't a sneaky thief way of getting more per night I dont know what is!
then they charged us for water per night and electric and another charge for sewer!!
by the time you are done it is $50 bucks a night for a small camper! AND no decent showers or toilets, YUK! I would never use one and wouldn't even think of letting my wife head in to them! HORRIBLE PLACE, BAD ROAD< SNEAKY THIEVES< forget it , we will stay in Salisbury and Saco and drive over to Rockport for the day!

We, just spent our 20th summer at this extraordinary campground. Both our children have grown up here and we are looking forward to spending more summers with our grandchildren. The family that runs the campground are wonderful and we love the beaches in Gloucester. But most of all, we love the peaceful evenings at our campsite, sitting around the fire and enjoying the stars.

My husband and family have been camping here as long as they can remember. We now return with our son to share all of the experiences with him. The views are terrific and the drive to downtown and the beach(es) is short. We love it and can't wait to return!

this is our 4th year staying here and still love it. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The campground sits on a large hill with nice views of the water. The town beach just down the road is absolutely beautiful and great for young and old alike. It's covered in soft sand with no rocks. The tent sites vary from secluded to not. And showers are still only 25cents. They have several shower/toilet facilities around the campground for easy access. And the store/checking building is right on the way in before heading up tto the rest of the campground. They have parking on the side so you can drive down to the store and not have to walk up and down and the best campfirwe wood prices in the area. There's also lots to see and do in the area.We found this yaer that they are redoing the shower/toilets a few at a time with nice granite looking surfaces.

Cape Ann Campsite is a hidden jewel. There are two different types of sites. As you enter, there are sites for big rigs. The views of the Annisquam River and the marsh are breathtaking.
The other sites are wooded and are more like a state park then a private campground. It's a bit tricky getting around in the woods but the extra work is worth it. The campground is on a hill and at it's highest point you can see for miles. One of a kind view.
Very dog friendly. Close to beaches and shopping in downtown Gloucester.

I have been camping here every year since 1975. Really! Every time we pick a different site. Some are better than others but never disappointed. The generation of owners have been great to work with. We have gone from tent to pop up. Many big rv show up and handle the curves in the road. Great rocks for kids and 2 miles for a great shallow beach for wading or walking otherwise head 5 miles out to Good Harbor. Great grounds for walking after breakfast or at evening time. Very wooded sites available.

I would just like to say that this is our 3rd Annual Trip to Cape Ann Campsite and we love it. We have grown in size from 8 people to 22 this year and everyone had a great time. The area is clean and the people are friendly. The view from the cliff is one of a kind. I would suggest this camping area to anyone. Thank you for a Great Time !!! Phillips Family & Friends

The tent area I stayed in was not level, and the table was warped. The toilets need a complete overhauling, the showers were still $.25 and you have to hold the faucets in order to fill the sink. When you pull into the camp you have to climb 75 feet to the office. The dumpster is right next to the toilets. The beach is a mile or so doen the road and you need to buy a pass so you can park there.
